In Memory ~ Larry Howard 1940 ~ 2016

Cowboy Collectors Gathering was originally promoted by Larry Howard, a highly honored, well respected cowboy collector & good friend. Larry, had a great eye for some of the rarest cowboy antique items & he had a unique ability to find some of the most extraordinary pieces in his hunt. Upon many years of collecting, Larry built a fabulous well admired cowboy collection. While collecting was Larry's passion, he decided his hometown - Prescott, AZ would be the perfect place to promote his own western collectible event given, Prescott and its surrounding area are rich with western history. 

The first Cowboy Collectors Gathering event took place in 2006 at Prescott's Frontier Days Rodeo Grounds with Larry and a few friends gathering to buy, sell & trade western antiques. Within a few years, CCG quickly expanded with 100+ old west traders selling cowboy collectibles from around the globe. Since 2006, numerous collectors/traders look forward to gathering under one roof to buy, sell & trade top quality Western & Native Americana Antiques & Collectibles. Fourteen years later, CCG outgrew Frontier rodeo grounds and made a move to Prescott Valley, AZ where Findlay Toyota Center became a new home for the CCG event in 2020.   

WHY IS CCG ON "WEDNESDAY? 

1st "Cowboy Collectors Gathering" event took place the 3rd "Wednesday" Jan 2006. Why Wednesday? Larry thought it was a great idea for the CCG show to precede another western show in AZ (held the 3rd weekend of January) as this would offer his fellow western collectors & exhibitors the opportunity to enjoy two events back-to-back. Thus, came the decision to have CCG on the 3rd "Wednesday" in January. Without doubt, an event held "mid-week" seems odd! Nonetheless, the CCG event is proserous and is very successful on "Wednesday"! CCG continues to prosper with attendees & its exhibitors, year after year. With intension, CCG's annual event continues to be held in January on the 3rd "Wednesday" because oddly, a mid-week event works. 

Sadly, our friend Larry Howard, passed in 2016. His collectible knowledge continues to be highly respected by many & his friendship is well missed by those who knew him.
